Addressing his first public meeting since filing nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) outlined his vision for the state’s development in the next five years during the third and final phase of his Samriddhi Yatra in the Seemanchal region.
Mr. Kumar reviewed various projects and directed officials to expedite their completion in Supaul and Madhepura districts. In Madhepura, the Chief Minister inaugurated 158 projects worth ₹216 crore and laid foundation stone for 137 projects worth ₹86 crore.
While Mr. Kumar remained tight-lipped about developments related to his Rajya Sabha candidature and his decision to quit as chief minister, he said his government was constantly engaged in development work.
In Supaul, Mr Kumar said rule of law prevailed in the state since the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) formed the government in November 2005.
“The education system was in poor condition and very few children were studying. There were no adequate health facilities. There were very few roads and the existing ones were in poor condition. Electricity was available only in limited areas. For the last 20 years, we have been continuously involved in the development of Bihar. Now there is no atmosphere of fear or intimidation in the state,” he said.
Talking about the education sector, Mr. Kumar said, “So far 10 million youth have been given government jobs and 40 million have been employed. A total of 50 million youth have been given jobs and employment. The aim is to provide one million jobs and employment to the youth in the next five years.”
He claimed that the pace of development will now be further accelerated as the central government is also providing full support. “The work has progressed significantly in recent years and further work will progress significantly in Bihar in the next five years. The central government is also giving full support. Bihar will continue to develop and become one of the top states in the country, which will contribute significantly to the progress of the nation,” Kumar said.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who was also present at the meetings, said Mr. Kumar would continue to accelerate Bihar’s development through his leadership even after shifting to Delhi.
“The NDA government will continue to move forward under the leadership and leadership of Mr. Kumar,” Mr. Choudhary said.
Minister of State and senior Janata Dal (United) leader Vijay Kumar Choudhary said that though the Chief Minister goes to the Rajya Sabha, he will never be far from the people of Bihar.
“You (read Mr Kumar) have always been interested in the people of Bihar and we have become accustomed to working with you. Nitish ji has promised me that he will always take care of Bihar even from Delhi,” Mr Choudhary said.
