Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of T20I against Ireland; unlikely even for an English series

NEW DELHI: India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the two-match T20I series against Ireland starting on June 26 in Belfast. Reddy’s quadriceps injury, which ruled him out of the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow, is understood to have widened and requires attention before he can take the field again. The exact time of his return is unknown at this stage.Reddy was also selected for the ODIs and T20Is against England; it remains to be seen if the injury will knock him out of this series as well. He will not be traveling to Ireland with the team at the moment.The Indian team will travel in batches for the Irish series. One batch which included Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Morne Morkel and T Dilip left Chennai today while some players are scheduled to leave Mumbai tomorrow.If the selectors name a replacement for Reddy, Suryansh Shedge is the frontrunner due to his impressive recent outings for India A in Sri Lanka.
