Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday (December 6, 2025) formally launched the membership drive for the Janata Dal (United), the party he heads, for the period between 2025 and 2028.
The campaign began with Mr. Kumar, the party’s national president, renewing his membership. He then issued membership certificates to senior party officials including national working president Sanjay Jha, state unit president Umesh Singh Kushwaha and national vice president Bashishtha Narayan Singh.
The party has set a target of over 1 million primary members for which there will be an intensive campaign at the booth level.
Other leaders who have renewed their membership are Union Minister of State Ramnath Thakur, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Narendra Narayan Yadav, Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Shravan Kumar, Chief Whip of the ruling party in the Legislative Council Sanjay Kumar Singh alias Gandhi Ji and former unit chairman Prasad Chvandesh Extreme Back Chandesh.
