The Minister of Road Transport and the Union of Nitin Gadkari accused the “petroleum lobby” of spreading 20 % ethanol mixing, while gasoline was corrosive to the engines and called the “completely false” claim.
Gadkari, who rejected the claim that many vehicles were not compatible with the E20, said in an interview with MoneyControl that the authorities have verified everything on Earth.
“This is quite false. We have done trials on old cars. In Brazil … they make 27 % mix, but there were no complaints. There are some people in the oil lobby … We verified everything for technical reasons,” he quoted him.
India has achieved its goal of 20 % of ethanol mixing with gasoline five years before the plan, said the Indian Association of Sugar and Bioenergy (ISMA) manufacturers in July. However, some media reports and consumers have raised questions about fuel efficiency, which were claimed to be corroded and reduce the number of mileage.
Experts also indicated that 20 % of gasoline mixing with petrol has an impact on the overall performance of vehicles. The service centers also claimed that the vehicle compatible vehicles, which still equalize a large piece of cars on Indian roads, face more often engine wear and seal failure.
Ethanol ‘Clean Fuel’, helps farmers: Gadkari
There were also concerns that the E20 mixing program risks diversion of food crops towards the fuel, because India mainly produces its ethanol from the melas of sugar cane.
Nitin Gadkari rejected such accusations and called ethanol for “very good, pure fuel”.
“It shifts the rural economy, helps farmers and reduces the import law on oil. Our policy is the replacement of imports, without pollution and cost -effective. Shouldn’t people improve their health?” Said in an interview.
Declaration of the Ministry of the Ministry of Oil of Ethanol Mixing
The Ministry of Oil and natural gas, at the beginning of this month, did not require recent claims that orbited social media, that gasoline E20, mixed with 20 % ethanol, causes a drastic decrease in fuel efficiency.
In a detailed statement, the Ministry stated that such accusations are in fact incorrect and are not supported by scientific analysis or expert opinion.
The Ministry explained that while ethanol has a lower energy density than gasoline, the impact on fuel efficiency is only marginal.
