Nithyasree Mahadevan and party perform at Rapadi Open Air Auditorium in Palakkad on Tuesday evening.
Day 10 of the ongoing Swaralaya Samanwayam dance and music festival saw a Carnatic vocal presentation by Nithyasree Mahadevan and a party at the Rapadi open-air auditorium on Tuesday evening.
Ms. Mahadevan took the audience on a classical musical journey through her masterful rendition of various ragas. She explored the different moods and emotions associated with different ragas and kept the audience enthralled from start to finish. She was accompanied by MA Krishnaswamy, Neyveli Skanda Supramanian and Kovai Suresh. Classical musician Mannoor Rajakumaranunni thanked the musicians.
CPI(M) general secretary MA Baby, while inaugurating the day’s programmes, earlier said that music has the power to unite human hearts which cannot be separated by language or country. He described Swaralaya as an example of organizational excellence.
Actor Rajesh Hebbar was the chief guest. District panchayat president TM Sasi presided over the function. Swaralaya Secretary TR Ajayan welcomed the gathering. Executive Member PM Raveendran proposed vote of thanks.
This was followed by a musical ensemble called Arikil Nee Undayirunnel performed by the Swaralaya Orchestra, combining timeless melodies from Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil. The performance showcased the works of 22 lyricists and 19 music directors.
Singers Nishad, Pradeep Somasundaram, Ravishankar, Chitra Arun, Preetha, Mathangi Ajithkumar, Satheesh Krishna, Eeswaran Namboothiri, Sunil Haridas and Gopika Sajit enlivened several soulful tracks and enthralled the audience with their heartfelt renditions.
