The status of 42 -year -old women from the Valancry affected by the Nipah virus remained unchanged on Sunday. The woman remained in a coma to support the fan in the intensive care unit in the EMS Memorial Hospital, Perinthalmann. Two doses of monoclonal antibodies and other drugs were administered within the NIPAH state protocol.
“Her condition remains stable, nor improves or deteriorates,” said the district physician R. Renuka.
Minister of Health Veen George said that another 11 people on the list of contacts affected women tested Sunday negative on Sunday, which brought the total number of people who negatively tested Nipah at 42.
On Sunday, up to 18 other people were included in the contact list, which increased the total number on the list to 112. When 54 of them were in a high -risk group, 58 were in the low risk category.
Up to 81 of them were from the Malappuram district, 25 from the Palakkad district, three from the Kozhikode district and one of the districts of Ernakulm, Idukki and Thiruvananthapuram.
Ten of them were treated for various diseases and two of them were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). They received prophylactic treatment, Mr. George said.
The Minister reviewed the situation of Nipah through an online meeting, which was attended by the highest health officials in the state on Sunday evening.
Fever supervision
On Sunday, trained healthcare officials visited 2,087 houses in Valancry as part of the ongoing supervision of Hlečkou. They covered 87% of houses in the area and attended a total of 3,868 houses.
On Monday, the health department is to initiate a joint investigation of the outbreak with the support of the animal breeding department. On Monday, supervision of domestic animals will begin in the region.
Officials will study recent changes in animal behavior and collect samples from pets. They will also explore the recent deaths between domestic animals and, if possible, collect samples. “We have a restriction in the inclusion of wild animals. The focus will be on cats and dogs,” said district supervisory officer C. Shaubin.
