Nine AP students begin 10-month metallurgical training in Russia

The first batch of nine students from Andhra Pradesh has gone to Russia to undergo a 10-month vocational training program in metallurgy conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC). The aim of the program is to provide students with advanced technical and professional skills along with international industry exposure to help prepare them for employment opportunities in the global metallurgical sector.

A statement released on Saturday said the students departed from Bhogapuram International Airport on Friday as part of an India-Russia intergovernmental initiative to promote international vocational education and skill development.

The program is facilitated with initial support from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). APSSDC also signed a Letter of Intent with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) to strengthen international vocational education and training opportunities.

The first batch consists of seven diploma holders in metallurgy and two ITI qualified candidates who were selected on the basis of screening, evaluation and document verification.

Students receive free vocational training at the Pervouralsky Metallurgical College (PMC) in Russia. RSPP will provide room and board, with each student receiving a monthly stipend of 24,000 Russian rubles during the program. APSSDC will be responsible for mobilization, selection and documentation, while RSPP will support programmatic measures and PMC will provide professional training.

The initiative is aimed at providing students with advanced technical and professional skills along with international industry exposure, helping them prepare for job opportunities in the global metallurgical sector.
