
The death sentence for Nimisha Priya, an Indian nurse who was convicted of murder in Yemen, was “overturned” and “completely” canceled, the Office of the Indian Grand Mufti, Kanthapuram AP Abubakr Musliyar, said on Monday.
The decision was made after a high -level meeting held in Yemen’s capital Sanaa, where it was decided to completely abolish the death judgment, which was temporarily suspended earlier, according to a statement issued by the Grand Mufti office and quoted by the news agency.
“The judgment of the death of Nimisha Priya, which was previously suspended, was overturned. The high -level meeting held in Sanaa decided to completely cancel the death sentence that was temporarily suspended,” the statement read.

Nituisha Priya, a 37 -year -old Indian nurse from Kerala, was to be executed on July 16th after being convicted of killing the Yemeni national national membership in November 2023.

Nituisha Priya is a trained nurse and worked for several years in private hospitals in Yemen.
In 2014, her husband and the smaller daughter returned to India for financial reasons and in the same year Yemen was grasped with a civil war and could not return because the country stopped issuing new visas. Later in 2015, Nimisha teamed up with the Yemeni citizen TALAL ABDO Mahdi to establish her clinic in Sanaa.
In 2020, Nimisha was convicted of killing the Yemeni National TALAL ABDO Mahdi in July 2017. In 2023, Houthis’s Supreme Judicial Council confirmed its sentence and rejected its deposit. It was placed on the series of death and was ready to be made on 16 July 2025.
