NIMHANS has expanded its public awareness initiative on mental health, ManoSandesh, by launching the Kannada version of a video series aimed at improving access to reliable information on mental health.
Conceived as a platform to provide credible and evidence-based guidance directly from subject matter experts, ManoSandesh features faculty members dealing with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder and the Government of India’s Tele MANAS initiative.
The series was originally launched in English on 15 August 2025 during the institute’s 79th Independence Day celebrations by Pratima Murthy, Director, NIMHANS. Since then, 37 videos in English and Hindi have been uploaded on NIMHANS official YouTube channel and have received encouraging response from the public.
The Kannada edition was formally released on Tuesday at the National Science Day Exhibition held at the NIMHANS Convention Centre. The launch was presided over by Usha Vijayaraghavan, Dean, Division of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, in the presence of Dr. Murthy and other faculty members.
Institute officials said the move is part of a broader effort to boost mental health literacy across Karnataka by making expert-backed information available in regional languages. They noted that language availability plays a key role in reducing stigma and encouraging early help-seeking.
Kannada videos are now available on NIMHANS official YouTube channel in ManoSandesh playlist.
