After England’s opening T20I win against Sri Lanka on Friday, Brook issued a statement repeating the apology he had made earlier in the tour.“I accept responsibility for my actions in Wellington and I acknowledge that others were present that evening,” Brook said.“I regret my previous comments and my intention was to protect my teammates from being drawn into a situation that arose as a result of my own decisions.“I realize I have a lot to learn when it comes to the off-field responsibilities that come with leadership and captaincy. I remain committed to developing in this area and improving both personally and professionally,” he added.The three players are currently under investigation by the cricket regulator over the incident which took place on the eve of England’s third ODI against New Zealand in October.Brook has already been fined the maximum £30,000 and issued a final warning over his off-field behaviour.Speaking in Colombo last week, Brook acknowledged the episode had damaged confidence in the team and said he was working to rebuild it.“We went out for a few drinks before and then I decided to go out for a few more drinks and I was there by myself,” Brook said.“I was trying to get into the club and unfortunately the bouncer caught me. Like I said, I shouldn’t have been in that situation to begin with… I wasn’t completely leathered, I had one too many drinks.”“I have apologized and will continue to reflect on this matter. It has been a challenging time in my career but one that I am learning from.”
