Nicholas Pooran about a relationship with Rishabh Pant: We connect through shared trauma

Lucknow Super Giants Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant have several common threads among them. Not only are they two of the most talented battles in the world, but they are also bound by trauma.

Pooran and Pant survived automotive accidents and returned to a professional cricket after facing an injury to a threatening career. The Caribbean has opened up about shared trauma and said they were trying to help each other through it.

In January 2015, Pooran, all 19, suffered almost a fatal car accident in Stary’s, Trinidad. It was bound to a trolley with several knee and ankle surgery after a considerable period. In December 2022, the hinge survived a terrible car accident as he went back home to Ronee of Delhi. Courtesy: x

“We had a good relationship before the incident. We always connect. We always talk, we meet whenever possible. If it’s in the Caribbean or if I’m here,” Pooran said in an interview.

“The accident is just something that was really unfortunate in our relevant journeys, but the clear side is that we play cricket today. And that’s a great feeling. But yeah we share our experience. We try to help each other as much as possible,” Fasiran added.

Launching to No. 3

This season, Pooran was one of the best players in the Premier League and since 2024, where he scored 499 runs. The main difference this season, however, is that last year Pooran fired last year to No. 3 instead of No. 5 or No. 6.

So has there been a change in thinking of the last few seasons?

“My thinking is the same. Try to win games whenever I get the opportunity. It is obvious that this is a different role of launching to number 5 or 6.

“I’m packed on No. 3, I have the opportunity to face more balls. That’s something I wanted to earn, especially in the fact that it was powerplay. So it’s all about taking opportunities and doing what the team requires,” Poaran said.

Western Indian is the only dough with a 200-plus blow between the current top-10 running getters in IPL.

Pooran is one of the rare overseas doughs in the world cricket who play well. SuperStar decided that while the knowledge of the conditions helped, what really worked for him was his ability to read the ball from the hand of the spinner.

“I’ve been playing in India for some time. The songs are a bit similar to what we’re returning home, where the playgrounds don’t have much reflection. But these are actually good goals that should bat, so it’s for me as if it were in my favor,” said the 29-year-old.

“I also like to play here in India. So there is a special motivation in this environment. Fans want you to do well and perform any cricket dream here,” he concluded.
