England’s Nicholas Lee will take over as the new strength and conditioning coach of the Indian women’s cricket team following the closure of the Women’s Premier League.
Five teams The Women’s Premier League will take place from January 9th to February 5th in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.
“Lee will take over as the team’s new strength and conditioning coach Indian women’s cricket team after WPL,” a source told PTI on Thursday.
After the WPL, India are scheduled to tour Australia for a multi-format series from February 15 to March 9.
Lee, who has scored 490 runs in 13 first-class matches as a right-handed batsman, brings with him vast experience in the elite sport, most recently as the strength and conditioning coach of the Gulf Giants in the fourth season of the ILT20 in the UAE.
He was the strength and conditioning coach of the Afghanistan men’s team from January 2024 to December 2025 and served as the head of physical performance at the Bangladesh Cricket Board from March 2020 to January 2024.
A graduate of Anglia Ruskin University, Lee also worked as strength and conditioning coach for the Sri Lanka men’s team from October 2016 to March 2020.
At domestic level, he was the head strength and conditioning coach at Sussex County Cricket Club from March 2012 to September 2016, having previously been an assistant coach from January 2010 to March 2012.
