Benjamin Netanyahu hit back at viral rumors of his death. The Israeli Prime Minister shared a sarcastic video posted on his official Twitter account (now X).
In the clip, Netanyahu is seen getting a cup of coffee at a cafe outside Jerusalem. “I’m dying for coffee,” he says. He uses a colloquial Hebrew expression that means he loves something deeply, which seems to be a clear dig at the rumors of death.
He then raises his hands to the camera and asks the audience if they want to count his fingers. It’s a direct reference to social media claims that his recent TV address was generated by AI.
The Israeli prime minister appeared to have six fingers in a previous video, prompting speculation about its authenticity.
Then Benjamin Netanyahu calls on Israeli citizens to follow safety guidelines during rocket alerts. He says their resilience strengthens the government, the military and the Mossad.
He says: “We’re doing things that I can’t share at the moment. We’re hitting Iran very hard and also Lebanon.”
Is Netanyahu’s latest video generated by artificial intelligence?
However, this video is also under the scanner. North Korean television shared the video and wrote: “Artificial intelligence experts confirm that this video is created by artificial intelligence using an advanced new version that has not yet been released.”
When curious social media users asked Grok to verify the authenticity of the video, the AI chatbot claimed it was created by artificial intelligence.
“It’s AI generated. This is a deepfake of Benjamin Netanyahu casually talking in a cafe about Iran-Lebanon operations and protected areas while sipping coffee – nothing like this real event exists. The original post specifically calls it advanced unreleased AI,” Grok replied.
However, Grok wasn’t the only one to claim it was an AI video. One user commented: “I have some serious questions about the validity of this apparently obvious AI video.”
“Magic pocket… Coffee in a gravity defying cup… Masked customer behind the counter. Nice try….NOTenyahu,” the user wrote, sharing close-up footage of the video.
“Why is this person wearing a mask and glasses in the cafe?” another user wondered, referring to the man in the video.
Another user wrote: “One of the things I noticed in this AI video is how the shape of Netanyahu’s face changes after he looks down at the coffee. At first it was round and then it became more oval.”
