The Indian National Highway (NHAI) has Megha Engineering and Infrastructure LTD (Meil) from participating in future motorway developers.
The decision is followed by the inability of Meil to perform adequate work on the protection of the slope, which resulted in the collapse of protection against the slope Chengala-Neeleshwaam in NH-66, Kerala on 16 June 2025.
Meil is a concessionaire and promoter of this highway section. The project is in the Hybrid Annuity (HAM) mode, where the concessionaire must maintain this section for 15 years.

“The concessionaire and its promoter, M/S Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd., was excluded from participating in future offers because of their inability to perform adequate work on the protection of the slope and make a proper drainage system to alleviate such risks. £9 crore, ”Nhai said on Tuesday in a statement.
Meil must respond to the notice within 15 days, then further measures will be set in the infrastructure company, Nhai added.
A professional committee was established for a visit and reviewed the design and construction of the NH-66 in Kerala. The Committee will also propose detailed corrective measures for the project.
Nhai said it was taking all basic steps to ensure the necessary measures to deal with this incident. Now Meil reconstructs protection from the slope works at its own expense.
