“He has a chance to be an all-for-center,” Gutekunst said on Monday during NFL owners’ meetings on Monday.
Banks, a guard who has established 43 games for San Francisco 49ers in the last three seasons, signed with Packers in a free agency.
Green Bay has a hole to be filled on Wednesday after 2021 the second round of Josh Myers joined the New York Jets last month. Myers began 56 Packers games in the last four seasons, of which 16 were last year.
Packers have long appreciated Jenkins for his versatility. While he played primarily during his seven seasons with Packers, Jenkins also started eight games on the left tools, six on the right tools and four on Wednesday. During his university career in Mississippi, he did 26 starts in the center.
“We talked a lot about it how the versatility plays in our offensive line and has people who can move to different places,” Gutekunst said. “Elgton is one of those guys who can play all five places.”
Jenkins started all 17 games – 16 on the left guard, one in the center – for Packers last season. The selection from the second round 2019 made 85 starts and received withdrawals for Bowl in 2020 and 2022.
