WWE Tried to Hurt AJ Styles and Embarrass Him, Claims Hall of Famer; Points Out How They Did (Exclusive)
Tension between wrestlers is a staple of professional wrestling, but sometimes the drama goes beyond the ring. In a shocking exclusive interview, a Hall of Famer has revealed that WWE brass tried to hurt one of the promotion’s top stars, AJ Styles, and make him embarrassed in the process.
The Hall of Famer, who wishes to remain anonymous, has had a career spanning three decades, with numerous championships and accolades to his name. With inside knowledge of the inner workings of the WWE machine, he’s spoken out to reveal a shocking tale of backstage politics and backstabbing.
"The last time I talked to AJ, he was feeling really frustrated and upset. He confided in me that the WWE was trying to hurt him, trying to make him look bad, and it was affecting his mental health. I have seen this [sort of behavior] before; it’s happened to many talents over the years," the Hall of Famer revealed.
The Hall of Famer pointed out several instances where the WWE allegedly tried to sabotage Styles’ performances and reputation. "They would book him in match after match, exhausting him, and then would pair him with someone who didn’t mesh with his style. They’d give him gimmicks that didn’t fit his character, making him look like a joke. I’ve seen it happen to other superstars, and it’s demoralizing," the Hall of Famer shared.
He also hinted at poor creative direction, stating, "Imagine being booked in a series of low-impact matches, no sense of direction, and being poked fun at by the company. AJ’s not the only one, but he’s a victim of the company’s ego and politics. I’ve seen superstars with more talent and fanfare get pushed aside for their own ego."
Furthermore, the Hall of Famer claimed that the WWE consistently underestimated Styles’ abilities, "They didn’t see his worth, they thought he’d just be another ‘indy darling.’ But he’s a top-tier wrestler, a megastar, and the company couldn’t see it. They tried to make him fit the mold, but he’s the one who’s still in the ring, always putting on a show."
Another example the Hall of Famer provided was the infamous feud with Shinsuke Nakamura, which he described as a setup: "AJ was booked to face Shinsuke Nakamura, a top contender, and they made it a joke, like a farce. AJ, with his high-flying moves, was reduced to a comedic character. [The match] was so poorly received, it took away from his credibility. It was a desperate attempt to make him look foolish, and it didn’t work."
The Hall of Famer concluded by saying, "The WWE has been trying to bring AJ down, to humiliate him, and it’s sad. They don’t care about the talent; they only care about themselves. I hope someone at the top gets wind of this article and makes a change, so talented superstars like AJ Styles are treated with the respect they deserve."
