Klatt’s Analysis of Quinn Ewers
Klatt highlighted Ewers’ undeniable potential, pointing to his ability to make NFL-caliber throws and his impressive arm talent.
“The potential is obviously there with Quinn Ewers,” Klatt said. “He’s been a highly rated quarterback for a long time, and rightly so. The guy makes a lot of big-time throws—NFL throws. He’s smart. He does things from an arm talent perspective that other guys just don’t. He can throw off-platform accurately, going to his left or right. There’s a lot to love about his game.”
However, Klatt also raised concerns about Ewers’ physical build and injury history, which could impact his durability at the professional level:
“I wish he was a little bigger. He’s only about 210 pounds, 6-foot-2. That’s led to some of the injury issues he’s had at Texas. We’ve yet to see Quinn go through a year without getting banged up, and that’s worrisome from an NFL perspective.”

Reports from NFL insider Tom Pellissero revealed that Ewers played the entire 2024 season with a torn oblique, sustained in Week 2 against Michigan. This injury may have contributed to his inconsistent performance throughout the year.

Klatt emphasized that Ewers needs to refine certain aspects of his game to succeed in the NFL. Specifically, he pointed out the need for Ewers to develop more velocity on his throws, especially in intermediate zones, to thrive at the professional level:
“There are times when I’m watching film, and I really want him to drive the ball into tight windows, particularly in intermediate zones. Instead, he throws with touch to those areas. That won’t work all the time in the NFL. He’s going to have to find more velocity or be willing to step up and drive the ball onto the frame of the receiver. That’s crucial for him.”
