The Kannur police have registered a case of alleged medical negligence against a doctor at a private hospital here after parents complained that their newborn twins suffered severe visual impairment during treatment at the hospital.
According to the complaint, the twins were born at the hospital on August 3, but they were allegedly not given timely and appropriate treatment, resulting in severe damage to their eyesight. The parents learned about the outage from another doctor at the same hospital.
The children were later taken to an eye hospital in Kannur and later referred to a specialized eye hospital in Coimbatore. One of them, who suffered severe vision loss in both eyes, underwent surgery, but his vision was not fully restored.
