Newborn girl found abandoned on district hospital grounds; police checking CCTV

A newborn baby was found abandoned at an isolated spot on the premises of the Government District Hospital on Wednesday (September 9, 2026).

Police said the patients’ caregivers heard the crying of the infant wrapped in clothing and alerted authorities. The city police arrived at the scene and handed the girl over to the district child protection department, which took her to a care center.

Police said they were examining CCTV footage in and around the hospital to trace those who abandoned the child.
