New Zealand pacer Michael Rae has shared his thoughts on his impressive debut performance, revealing that he only got word of his potential inclusion a few days ago and the last few days have been surreal for him. Expressing his excitement at taking his first wicket in the Test format, he acknowledged that he had learned a thing or two during the day, adjusting his game at the right time for a couple of wickets, and was delighted to pull one back and catch an edge, with Daryl handling it safely. Rae attributed his success to his pace, stating that he was a bit faster than many others, which gave him confidence, and praised the West Indies batsmen, saying they are excellent cricketers who will punish any mistake. He praised fellow bowlers Jacob Duffy and Zakary Foulkes, who bowled beautifully but were unlucky not to get many wickets, and felt it was a good feeling to bowl in the West Indies on the first day and get to bat on the same day, crediting Tom Latham for his honest and consistent reporting that helped the team reap the rewards in the final session.
