
Thousands of runners will converge on Sunday, November 2, 2025 for the New York City Marathon, a 26.2-mile (42.16 km) race across all five boroughs.
In 2025, an incredible 55,646 people took part in the New York Marathon, and organizers are hoping for another record-breaking participation of at least 50,000+ participants.
Among the professional runners taking part in the competition are six previous New York City Marathon champions, including Albert Korir and Abdi Nageye among the men and Sharon Lokedi, Hellen Obiri, Sheila Chepkirui and Stephanie Bruce comprising the professionals.

When is the New York City Marathon?
The New York City Marathon will begin on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. local time.
The broadcast will continue until five o’clock in the evening.
New York City Marathon Reward
The total prize money for the NYCM 2025 edition is around $900,000. The winners of the men’s and women’s races will each receive US$100,000, while those in second through tenth place will receive between US$60,000 and US$2,000.
New York Marathon route
The New York City Marathon will start on Staten Island and run through all five boroughs. The starting point is Fort Wadsworth, while the race will end on West 67th Street in Central Park.
Runners will have to start in Staten Island, then go from Brooklyn to Queens to the Bronx and finally finish the race in Manhattan.

How to watch the New York City Marathon
The New York City Marathon will be streamed live on ESPN2, WABC, Fubo and the ESPN app.
WABC, ESPN+ and the ESPN app will begin pre-race coverage at 7:00 a.m. on Nov. 2.
The WABC, ESPN+, and ESPN apps will continue to broadcast live from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the same will continue from 3 p.m. on ABC and Fubo.
