
The Income Tax Act 2025 has been designed to make it easier to understand, reduce complexity and encourage greater voluntary compliance, said Vidisha Kalra, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka and Goa region.
She was speaking at PRARAMBH-2026, an awareness and information program organized to offer taxpayers in the city a better understanding of the new tax law.
“The Income Tax Act of 2025 marks a significant step towards building a simpler, more transparent and taxpayer-focused tax administration system,” she said.
Ms. Kalra urged taxpayers, practitioners and trade bodies to proactively utilize digital initiatives and facilitating measures by the IT department for seamless compliance and enhanced services to taxpayers.
PRARAMBH-2026 aimed at facilitating a smooth transition from the Income Tax Act, 1961 to the Income Tax Act, 2025 with an emphasis on simplification of provisions, rationalization of sections and forms and strengthening measures to facilitate taxpayers.
The event also featured demonstrations of the department’s digital initiatives, including ‘Kar Saathi’, an AI Chatbot, and awareness programs such as Kar Setu (an FAQ on the interplay between the Income Tax Act, 1961 and the Income Tax Act, 2025). A comic titled ‘Madhukar Explains Income Tax Act 2025’, informative brochures and Samvaad, all aimed at enhancing taxpayer engagement and support.
The program was attended by leading taxpayers and key stakeholders, including representatives of trade bodies, associations of chartered accountants, associations of tax practitioners and members of the tax chamber.
