The Haryan State Committee for women (Women’s Commission) gave me a summons on 12 May 2025 in relation to certain places I did on the social media. My lawyers submitted my detailed answer to these summons and today they represented me before the Commission, 14 May 2025.
Reducing the screen connected to the announcement explains that my notes have been completely misunderstood and that the Commission has no jurisdiction at all. The Female Commission is a body that serves an important function, but the summons that I issued cannot emphasize how my contribution is in conflict with the rights or law for women.
Unlike the accusation, my contribution appreciated the fact that the armed forces chose Colonel Sofia Qureshi and the Singh commander Singh at a press conference to emphasize the fact that the dream of the founders of our republic, India, which is united in its diversity, is still alive. I even applauded members of the right wing who supported Colonel Qureshi, and invited them to have the same approach to ordinary Indian Muslims who face demonization and persecution daily. As for something, my whole comments concerned the protection of the lives of both citizens and soldiers. In addition, there is nothing remotely misogynistic about my comments that could be interpreted as anti-women.
I used my academic training and public voice to defend peace due to the high costs of war. At the same time, I analyzed and commented on the way “Indian armed forces took care not to focus on military or civilian installations or infrastructure to avoid unnecessary escalation”. This reflects a clear recognition of the measured and proportional approach of the Indian army, and in fact I condemned the Pakistani army to use terrorists to destabilize the region. In fact, in my analysis, I showed that it gives “the burden of the Pakistani army to make sure that she can no longer hide behind terrorists and non -state actors”. Furthermore, I added that the army then used this tactics “to destabilize the region for too long”. My statement, animated by a deep moral commitment to minimize the human cost of an armed conflict, only expresses concerns about thetoric excesses and reckless heating that showed certain parts of the civilian public.
My academic record, as well as my public writings and political work, which sometimes included cooperation with higher bureaucrats, military officers, politicians and other Indian government, both active and retired, is evidenced by the fact that I have also made a priority to comply with the principles of our constitution. All my public writings have always tried to adhere to the principles of justice, freedom, fraternity and equality, and have always tried to promote peace and communal harmony.
Simply put, I have exercised my fundamental right to freedom of thinking and speech to support peace and harmony and applaud Indian armed forces for their decisive behavior, and at the same time criticizing those who preach hatred and strive to destabilize India. I am surprised that the female commission, even though it exceeded their jurisdiction, incorrectly and did not understand my contributions to the extent that they have overturned their meaning. This is a new form of censorship and harassment that causes problems where there are none. I believe in the process of law and I know that my basic, constitutional and legal rights will be protected. I reserve my right to take legal action against all those who use this announcement of the summons to make me slanderous claims.
