New airports, Telangana Bhavan design should reflect state culture: CM

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure that the proposed airports in Adilabad and Warangal and Telangana Bhavan in Delhi reflect the state’s history, culture, architecture and artistic traditions.

Mr. Reddy examined the designs of the Adilabad and Warangal airports and the Telangana Bhavan in Delhi and suggested modifications to some of the proposed structures.

Reviewing the progress of the three projects at the Secretariat on Tuesday, he said the designs should draw inspiration from Telangana’s architectural heritage, including Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, Ramappa Temple and Pillalamarri Temple.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that all supporting infrastructure works are carried out in a coordinated manner between the departments so that the projects can be completed within the stipulated time.

Officials briefed him about shifting of power lines, diversion of streams, reconstruction of roads, BSNL lines and drinking water supply pipelines in areas where airports are proposed.

Mr. Revanth Reddy directed the officials to construct roads along the walls of the airport complexes and connect them to nearby district, state and national highways.

Officials from the Power, Roads and Buildings, Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation departments have been asked to coordinate with the BSNL authorities and ensure that the required works are taken up simultaneously.

The Chief Minister also suggested that wherever streams or other watercourses need to be diverted, ponds could be constructed in or near the airport premises to regulate and divert the flows. Among those present were R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, MPs Vem Narender Reddy and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah and Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju.
