Almost 220 small irrigation ponds will be renewed in the NELLORE district at the estimated cost of 355.19 crore and about 26,928 hectares of land would be developed via RRR (repair, renewal, renewal, renewing, watering scheme, O. Anand district collector on Wednesday.
RRR is an ambitious system of the Central Government, which is part of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchaye Yojana (PMKSY) program as part of the “Har Khet Ko Pani” program (HKKP) and provides financial assistance to states to revive water units. The collector who addressed officials ordered them to take the necessary steps to develop water resources in the district through this system.
He said that the main goal of the RRR system is to provide abundant water of agricultural crops and increase the capacity of water storage and groundwater. He suggested that the District Water Management Agency (DWMA), underground and irrigation departments worked in coordination and efficiently performed this system.
After the development of ponds, he recommended that the project director of DWMA to perform a plantation and a walk through the NREGA system (National Rural Warranty). He asked the groundwater department officials to provide necessary technical assistance. He called on the authorities to work in favor of farmers and increase the efficiency of water and groundwater levels.
