In a heart-warming gesture, SPSR Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla celebrated the New Year with orphans at Vatsalya Dodla Varada Reddy Welfare Foundation in RK Nagar on Thursday evening. He cut a cake with the children from the orphanage and ate it with them. Children melodiously recited Bhagavad Gita verses and few girls danced.
Speaking on the occasion, the collector said that he was happy to celebrate the New Year among these children and spend time with them. He praised the management for running the orphanage for more than three decades with only donor contributions without expecting any support from the government and providing value-based education to the children.
He further said that such organizations are of great benefit to the society. Later, he distributed dictionaries, notebooks and other educational materials to the children. He advised the students to study well and attain high positions. He shared his plans to soon give books and other educational kits to students studying in all welfare hostels in the district.
