NEET Paper Leak: Supreme Court Denies Immediate Hearing on Computerized Exam Petition | Today’s news
The Supreme Court on Monday declined to grant an urgent hearing to a petition seeking that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled for June 21, be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode instead of the conventional pen-and-paper format.
The matter was mentioned before a vacation bench comprising PS Narasimha and Arvind Kumar, who refused to hear it urgently and said it would take up after the court’s vacation.
Responding to the plea, Justice Narasimha said, “They (NTA) are re-examing. Such pressure as they have. We will publish after vacation.”

Digvijaya Singh to chair the Parliamentary panel meeting on NEET exam paper leak
Meanwhile, Congress MP Digvijaya Singh arrived at Parliament House to chair a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports. The committee is set to discuss the merits of pen-and-paper versus computer-based testing (CBT), along with issues related to the NEET exam and the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The first item on the agenda of the meeting is the discussion and adoption of the 381st report, which evaluates the government’s progress based on the recommendations of the 364th report on subsidy requirements (2025–26) of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
On Tuesday, the committee will meet again to review the implementation of On-Screen Marking (OSM) in the CBSE Class 12 examinations and examine the challenges faced by students.
The panel will also discuss the implementation of the tri-language formula for students of class 9 and 10.

These discussions come amid ongoing concerns and debates regarding the conduct of NEET-UG and CBSE Class 12 exams.
This year’s NEET-UG exam has been canceled and has been postponed to 21st June. As part of its investigation into the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, the CBI has arrested 13 accused.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Praveen Sood and National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh on Friday attended a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Government Guarantees held to review updates on the NEET-UG paper leak investigation.

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding its On-Screen Marking (OSM) assessment process, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said it has been closely monitoring vulnerabilities flagged on its service provider’s OnMark portal and has deployed cyber security experts to strengthen the system.
Protest breaks out due to NEET UG 2026 paper leak
Members of the Indian Youth Congress protested in Pune, Maharashtra on Sunday over the alleged leak of the NEET UG 2026 paper. The protesters demanded action against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded justice for students affected by the controversy.
Speaking to ANI, IYC National President Udaj Bhanu Chib accused the Education Minister of “selling the future of the youth for money” and demanded strict action against him in the matter.
Asserting confidence in the leadership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Chib said the IYC will continue the protests until justice is served to the affected youth.

“We protested in Pune and there is only one demand regarding the traitor Dharmendra Pradhan who is trying to sell the future of students and youth for greed of money. Until action is taken against him, Youth Congress will continue to fight under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. Protests are going on all over the country. Until justice is done to the youth of the country,” he said, he is protesting. ‘
In a related development, a Rouse Avenue court on Saturday extended the CBI custody of Manisha Sanjay Hawaldar in connection with the NEET UG paper leak case. The court also sent Manisha Mandhare to judicial custody after completion of 14-day CBI interrogation.
Special CBI Judge Ajay Gupta extended Hawaldar’s remand till Monday to facilitate further investigation. She was produced before the court after six days in CBI custody following her arrest in Pune, Maharashtra. According to investigators, Hawaldar worked as a physics expert and translator for physics-related exam content.
