The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) staged a protest in the national capital on Saturday (May 16, 2026) demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged leakage of question papers in NEET-UG this year.
Carrying placards, banners and party flags, the IYC workers took out a protest march from Teen Murti Circle towards Mr. Pradhan’s residence before being stopped by the police.
Several members, including IYC president Uday Bhanu Chiba, were detained during the protest.
The NEET-UG exam, which was held on May 3, was canceled following alleged irregularities in the exam and on June 21, the education minister announced its rerun.
The protesting Youth Congress alleged that the education system had “collapsed” under the BJP-led NDA government.
Claiming that 89 exam papers had been leaked in the last 12 years and that the NEET itself was allegedly leaked four times, the protesters said it raised “serious questions” about the integrity of the exam system.
“The BJP has created such a corrupt system that children of the rich will secure seats and jobs while students from poor families will suffer,” said an IYC worker.
