
The double Olympic medalist of the Indian spear Thrower Neera Chopra on Tuesday confirmed that he would start his season in Diamond League on May 16 in the capital of Qatari.
Chopra, who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics and then silver at the Parisian Games 2024, said he was looking forward to the competition in front of one of the most passionate crowds of athletics when he returns to Wand Diamond League in Doha after the third year.
Chopra required victory in the Qatar sports club with the world leadership of 88.67 MV of 2023. Before the third performance at the meeting he said that he was looking forward to more passionate support for Indian fans in Qatar.
“I am always amazed by the support I receive from the Indian people in Qatar-not words to thank them,” said a 27-year-old man, now trained by Jan Zelezny from the Czech Republic, the world javelin holder (98.48 m) and more Olympic and world champion.
The sports icon, Chopra, became the first Indian athlete of the track and a field athlete to win the Olympic Gold and World Championship, as well as the first Indian, who had ever won the Diamond League and Diamond League.
Last season he missed more glory and in the final of the Olympic finals he finished second in Arshad Nada and at the final of the Diamond League in Brussels.
“Last year he taught me a lot, but I was proud to be on the stage for India again at the Olympic Games.
“The crowd at the Qatar Sports Club is always loud and I think it brings the best of all of us. I know that fans expect great things from me when I compete here – as good conditions and a great atmosphere that is certainly possible – but proud of my consistency, which I think is one of my biggest strengths.
Wanda Diamond League League is a one -day series of meetings in the elite in global athletics. It includes 15 of the most prestigious events in the global track and field. Athletes compete for points at 14 meetings of series in an effort to qualify for the two -day Wand Diamond League finals, which will be held in Zurich 27 and 28 August.
After the Doha meeting, Chopra will compete in the “Neera Chopra Classic” Javelin event 24. May in Panchkule.
