
Olympic medalist Gagan Narang feels that Neera Chopra is now free to move his limits after the 90 -meter -long barrier during Diamond League in Doha. Neera, with his third attempt during the 16th of May, became the first Indian to achieve a monument.
Eventually he finished second in the Diamond League Doha How German Julius Weber managed to throw an Indian star. When he talked to PTI, Narang said that the monkey was finally outside Neera’s back and the mental barrier was finally interrupted.
“The monkey is outside the back and now it is free to push your limits,” Narang said.
“At one limit, the glass ceiling, the mental barrier that probably played on his mind for some time, is now broken.”
“Getting the right score is important”
Narang welcomed the success of Neera as a monumental for Indian athletics. The Olympic medalist also said that it is important for the 27 -year -old to get the right score at the right time.
“It’s not just a distance, is it? It’s about redefining what is possible for Indian sport, especially on the global scene.
“This is the first competition for him. And there are many other competitions. So, even if it is important to overcome this barrier, I think getting the right score is important at the right time.”
Narang also drew parallels with his own shooting career when he chased the 600 perfect score. The Olympic medalist feels that thinking beyond the border is seen with Neerai at the moment after his exploitation in the Diamond League.
“You know, I shot 597, 598, 599. But that 600 – world record brand – was not coming. I took it personally. And half a month later I interrupted this record.
