Nearly 300 are participating in the District Yogasana Championship in Visakhapatnam

The Visakhapatnam District Level Yoga Championship was held at the Yoga Village on Beach Road, where nearly 300 students and yoga enthusiasts participated, according to the organizers.

The championship was organized by Yogasana Sports Association of Visakhapatnam under the leadership of Yogasana Sports Association Andhra Pradesh, affiliated to Yogasana Bharat.

There was competition in six age categories: juniors (10-14), juniors (14-18), seniors (18-28), seniors A (28-35), seniors B (35-45) and seniors C (45-55). Participants competed in traditional yoga, solo artist, artist duo, rhythm duo and group categories.

Students from government, private and aided schools and universities from across the district participated.

K. Ramesh Babu, head of the department at Andhra University’s Yoga Village, said practicing asanas helps maintain physical health and mental stability. He advised the children to practice asanas with dedication.

Durga Sai, KA Raju, DSP Prasada Rao, Chilaka Venkata Ramesh, YK Prabhakar and Kiran Kumar served as event directors. Karibandi Ramakrishna and Raghavendra served as judges.

TSV organizing member Prasada Rao said the first, second and third prize winners will be sent to the state-level competitions to be held next month.
