The Chittoor district police on Thursday organized a large-scale student event under the ‘Dhairya Sparsha’ initiative at ZP High School in SR Kandriga of Palasamudram mandal. Nearly 1,000 students from across the GD Nellore Assembly constituency participated in the camp.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi and trainee IPS officer Tarun Pahwa were welcomed by students and villagers with a band performance, after which the officers explained the objectives of Dhairya Sparsh. The students presented skits highlighting the ill effects of drug abuse, the dangers of reckless driving and the social and legal consequences of child marriage.
Addressing the rally, the SP said the police should instill fear among criminals while remaining friends with students. He warned the students against speeding and reckless driving and urged them to always use helmets. The SP further warned them against cyber risks like clicking on unknown links and called for a united stand against drugs. The SP said that prevention of child marriage is a shared civic responsibility, adding that timely information can save young lives.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tarun Pahwa emphasized the importance of trust between the police and students. He informed students to report suspicious or illegal activities in their neighborhood to the local police.
Later, officials unveiled posters of Dhairya Sparsh and presented certificates and mementos to the students for excelling in cyber security, road safety and drug awareness quizzes.
