The Minister of irrigation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the National Office for the Security of the Dam (NDSA) on the Kaleshwaam project was the direct accusation of the previous BRS government and revealed serious shortcomings in its proposal, construction and maintenance.
On Friday, he spoke to Mediaperons on the bharat Summit 2025 in HICC in HICC, Mr. Reddy said that it was shameful that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) claimed that the project as a monumental, despite the key flashes – Medigadda, Annaram and take off – were only a few years after construction.
The Minister demanded a public apology from BRS leaders to farmers from Telangana and announced that the Congress Government will study the findings of the NDSA and the next meeting of the cabinet is a detailed discussion.
The NDSA report revealed shortcomings and mentioned how defective the design, construction, operation and maintenance was. Soil testing was not properly performed and no correct geophysical investigation was carried out, the Minister said.
He emphasized the finding of the report and pointed out that the phenomenon of sand pipeline, cavity formation under the raft, design defects, design deficiencies, structural anxiety and other subsequent damage caused block-7 Medigadda Barage without inconvenience. The NDSA Committee has seen similar problems in other blocks, on the basis of geophysical investigation, which revealed the formation of cavities within multiple parts of fire.
Minister accuses BRS
The Minister accused the previous government of BRS of the mortgage for the future of Telangana by borrowing over 1 lakh Crore at high interest rates to build a project that failed under their watch. “You claimed to create miracles with Kaleshwaram. But you suggested it, you built it and collapsed during your regime,” he accused.
Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy also said that BRS leaders in the public and tried to survive on “lies and mistakes”. “BRS wants to deceive farmers again and betray the people themselves they claimed to serve,” he accused.
He expressed the accusation that the NDSA report was politically motivated, clarified that NDSA was a central agency that includes the highest professionals on the safety of dams. “NDSA was created when BRS was still in power. You should be ashamed that your project has been accused of an institution created during your own rule,” he accused.
