Ahead of the eight-seat State Legislative Council elections on October 23, in which the ruling BJP and JD(U) are contesting four seats each, coalition partners NDA on Friday (October 9, 2026) organized a meeting of party MLAs, MPs and leaders at Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s official residence 1, Anne Marg to the chalk.
The NDA leaders, including party MLA from Mokam Anant Singh, met and reportedly formulated a unified strategy to win all the eight seats, which will be held on October 23 and the results of which will be announced on October 27. Apart from the BJP and JD(U), the ruling NDA has three other coalition partners in Bihar — the Janshakti (Hinduj Loki-ledhi Ramminji-Vilasitan) party. Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha of Upendra Kushwaha.
Earlier, three of the total four RLM MLAs were fielded and announced their support to independent candidate Ram Pukar Sinha from Saran Teachers constituency against official NDA candidate Anand Pushkar of JD(U). The party’s fourth MLA is Snehlata Kushwaha, wife of party chief Upendra Kushwaha. The remaining three MLAs Rameshwar Mahato, Madhav Anand and Alok Kumar Singh have reportedly rebelled against the party, but earlier said they would remain “part of the BJP-led NDA”. “We will sort out the differences among the party leaders… the top leadership of the parties is aware of the issue,” a senior JD-U leader told the media.
Bihar state BJP president Sanjay Saraogi, JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, party general secretary Shyam Rajak along with several leaders, MLAs and MLCs of the five ruling NDA units were present in the meeting.
