Claiming that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is heading for a “record victory” in Bihar, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has already started preparing “excuses” for the impending defeat with his allegations of “vote chori” (theft).
Speaking to reporters at Godsar in Ghosi Assembly part of Jehanabad district, Mr. Chouhan said Mr. Gandhi’s repeated allegations of “vote chori” are an admission that people favor the NDA.
“A day before the polls, Rahul Gandhi started making excuses and talked about ‘vote chori’. He knows that the people of Bihar stand strongly for development, welfare, good governance and women empowerment,” the minister said. “Rahul Gandhi did not campaign seriously and spent his time catching fish,” he said.
Mr. Chouhan claimed that the NDA’s victory in the elections was evident on the ground.
“NDA candidates will win in record fashion. Even Tejashwi Yadav has admitted this. He abandoned his own manifesto on the last day of campaigning because the ground collapsed under his feet,” he said.
“Mothers, sisters, youth, farmers and the poor are all voting for good governance, welfare and development. People are coming in large numbers to support the NDA,” he later told PTI Videos.
Mr. Chouhan accused the Congress of undermining national interests on foreign soil by “conspiracy” against the country. “They will not escape responsibility for the crimes they commit against democracy,” he said.
