CPI(M) state secretariat member B. Tulasi Das and Srikakulam district secretary of the party D. Govinda Rao on Sunday (June 14, 2026) requested the state government to release funds for all ongoing projects in the district, including Vamsadhara Phase 2, linking of Nagavali and Vamsadhara rivers and strengthening of mansdalat network.

Addressing a media conference here, Mr. Tulasi Das alleged that the NDA government has forgotten the election promise it made to the farmers of Srikakulam district. He said that ₹1,700 crore was required for upgrading the Gotta barrage and for lift irrigation to make optimum use of the water from the Vamsadhara.

Mr Govinda Rao said the new Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and Cashew Council would benefit the tribal people and cashew farmers in the district. He alleged that the government was encouraging destructive development by proposing a cargo airport in the Uddanam area and mining of rare earth minerals along the coast of the district.

Party leaders Bhaviri Krishna Murthy, Konari Mohanna Rao and others were present.
