The ruling National Conference (NC) on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) said it will formally invite members of the INDIA bloc and J&K parties to join its protest at Jantar Mantar on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 20 over statehood and constitutional guarantees.
“All constituent parties of the INDIA bloc along with other political parties in Jammu and Kashmir will be formally invited to participate in the protest. It has also been decided to send invitations to leaders of parties that are not part of the INDIA bloc but are also not affiliated with the NDA,” NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah at his residence in Gupkar, Srinagar. “The meeting reviewed and finalized arrangements for the party’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi,” Mr. Dar said.
The NC said that formal invitation letters will be sent to all political parties in J&K, with party president Abdullah personally writing to these leaders. In June, during a meeting chaired by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the NC decided to take elected legislators to Delhi and “push for the restoration of statehood and constitutional guarantees for J&K.
