Several estranged couples reconciled and decided to restore their married life during the National Lok Adalat in Koppal district on Saturday.
According to officials, 10 matrimonial cases were settled through mediation, with husbands and wives agreeing to settle their disputes. The settlement was reached with advice and guidance from mediators, lawyers and judges. One notable case involved a couple who had been living apart for the past 10 years but got back together on the advice of their lawyers, mediators and the presiding judge.
In addition to family disputes, many cases involving insurance claims, water bills, bank loans, property tax, domestic violence, maintenance, checks, birth and death registrations, civil and criminal cases, motor vehicle accident claims and MMDR cases have also been handled.
Courts in Koppal, Gangavati, Kushtagi and Yelburga taluks disposed of 6,764 cases out of a total of 8,613 listed on the day.
In pre-litigation matters relating to insurance, water charges and motor accident claims, 72,591 cases were settled out of 79,305 cases settled with a total settlement amount of ₹13.52 crore. A total of 79,355 cases were settled, out of 87,918 settled in a single day, with a settlement of ₹93.98 crore.
The Koppal District Legal Services Office expressed its gratitude to the judges, advocates, litigants and advocate mediators for their cooperation in achieving record settlements through amicable settlement during the Lok Adalat.
