The artist nambooriri Samman Trust, created to preserve and promote the rich heritage of the legendary artist Namboodiri, introduced the National Award for literary illustration.
The aim of the prize is to recognize excellent artists working in the field of literary illustration across all Indian languages. It includes a cash price of 1 Lakh 1, a citation and a specially created statue. Depending on the edition, the annual awards will be awarded on ceremonies organized in various cities throughout India to celebrate and focus a variety of artistic talents.
Truust, based in Kochi, seeks to honor his inheritance by promoting artistic perfection and encouraging the creative expression in the fields he promoted. It plans to organize seminars, workshops, exhibitions and other cultural events throughout the year to support awareness of Namboodiri contributions and support the growth of Indian illustrations and visual communities.
