He was expected to play a key role in leading the pace of the team, especially with Matheesha Pathirana no longer part of the team.

Injuries before the start of the season
Picked up for Rs 2 crore and retained before the season, Ellis has brought valuable experience with 19 wickets from 17 IPL matches. His absence now leaves a gap in the bowling line-up that the team will need to address quickly. A representative of the franchise confirmed the news. “Yes, he is out. We haven’t decided on a replacement yet,” an official told PTI.The team’s management has not yet named a replacement, adding some uncertainty just days before the start of the tournament.
What this means for CSK
Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai will now have to rethink their bowling plans and may rely on other players to chip in. The team is all set to start their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 30 in Guwahati.Despite the setback, CSK will be hoping to adapt quickly and remain competitive as they aim for another strong IPL season.
