
NASA will terminate its rental for a climate scientific center based in New York, which has been operating from the University of Columbia since the 1960s.
NASA spokesman confirmed through e -mail that the decision is part of the wider review of Federal Rentals of President Donald Trump.

A device known as the Goddard Institute for Space Studies is a key player in global climate research and manages one of the five main independent data files in the world. The Institute is obliged to release the premises by May 31, Bloomberg informed.
“NASA management said GISS staff to do its work practically. In the next few months, employees will be entered in temporary distant work agreements while NASA is considering new premises,” said Bethany Stevens.
Several NASA officials visited New York on Thursday morning and met about 100 employees to discuss this step and deal with concerns that this change could have greater consequences for the work of the Institute, according to Gavin Schmidt, director of GISS.
Lystrup Makenz, Director of the Goddard Space Flight Center NASA, promised that GISS missions will continue -mail sent to employees that Bloomberg saw.
“The work of the GISS team is considered to be critical for the country’s science division, especially because the division looks into the future of its modeling work and abilities,” Lystrup wrote.

According to Schmidt, the lease is managed by General Services Administration and costs around $ 3 million a year.
