Nara Bhuvaneshwari, wife of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, inaugurated a ‘Chai Raasta’ run by DWCRA women in Kuppam on Saturday. The government initiative is part of the mission to raise at least one entrepreneur in every family.
After opening the drawer, Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari bought the inaugural cup of tea and praised the taste and purity. She welcomed the involvement of IIM and IIT alumni in shaping the concept and termed ‘Chai Raasta’ as a refreshing and forward-looking model. Reiterating government’s commitment to helping women become successful entrepreneurs, she urged DWCRA groups to take full advantage of this opportunity, noting that such businesses offer women an assured monthly income, dignity and social recognition. She added that “Chai Raasta” outlets would be launched in cities across the state in the coming months, creating a wider network of women-run micro-enterprises.
Chai Raasta CEO Michael Joshi said the model will provide DWCRA women with stable earnings and a sense of empowerment. Directors Poludasu Kiran and Ontipuli Poornachandra Rao said the outlets are equipped with modern technology to help women handle operations easily.
