Nandyal MP and Collector distribute relief equipment worth ₹4 million to 3,000 beneficiaries

Nandyal MP and TDP National General Secretary Dr. Byreddy Shabari and District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya on Monday (June 15, 2026) distributed free assistive devices worth ₹ 4 million to over 3,000 beneficiaries.

Assistive devices such as wheelchairs, tricycles, battery powered bikes, hearing aids and walking sticks were distributed to eligible persons with disabilities. These facilities were provided under the Government of India’s ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Installation of Aids and Appliances) programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Shabari said it was a privilege to distribute assistive devices worth ₹4 crore to over 3,000 differently-abled individuals and senior citizens in Nandyal district – a milestone achieved for the first time in the state. She added that this was in fulfillment of a promise made by Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh during her pre-election ‘Yuva Galam’ padayatra.

She said that while some past governments treated the differently-abled as a burden, the Telugu Desam Party government sees them as a responsibility and stands firmly behind their development. She recalled that late TDP founder and former NT Chief Minister Rama Rao had established a corporation for the differently-abled and provided them with land and permanent housing.

The MP further said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has increased the differently-abled pension from ₹2,000 to ₹6,000 and has also ensured that it is delivered to their doorsteps on the first day of every month.

She assured that a new social hall for people with disabilities will be built in the district headquarters with the funds of the MP and in cooperation with the district collector. She encouraged persons with disabilities to call her whenever needed and assured them that she would find solutions to their problems.
