Namma Metro Green Line services in Bengaluru were disrupted for about 45 minutes in the morning hours of July 21 following a power failure, forcing the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to suspend train services between Yeshwanthpur and Madawara. Normal traffic was restored at 8:45 a.m

According to BMRCL, the disruption started around 8:00 am when a power outage affected services on the northern part of the Green Line. During the outage, trains operated only on a short circuit between Silk Institute and Yeshwanthpur stations, while services between Yeshwanthpur and Madawara remained suspended.

The disruption affected commuters during the morning rush hours, with passengers forced to wait or seek alternative modes of transport.

In a public statement, BMRCL said its technical teams are working on war footing to restore normal operations as soon as possible. The company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and thanked commuters for their patience and cooperation.

At 8:45 AM, BMRCL announced that power supply had been restored and that normal revenue services had been resumed on the entire Green Line, including the Yeshwanthpur–Madavara section.

The Green Line, which connects the Silk Institute in the south with Madawara in the north, is among the busiest corridors in the Namma Metro, transporting thousands of commuters every day.

Between late June and early July 2026, the Namma Metro faced a series of technical glitches that crippled peak-hour commuting on both major corridors. On 23 June, a major train malfunction in the underground section near Cubbon Park halted Purple Line services and forced Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to suspend services between Majestic and Trinity until the following morning.

Just three days later, on 26 June, the Purple Line suffered another disruption at Cubbon Park after a commuter’s metal chain got stuck in a train door guide, delaying services by 17 minutes and leading to severe overcrowding at several stations.

The Green Line was affected on 9 July when a signaling fault near Banashankari during the morning rush hour caused widespread train delays.
