Namma Metro contract worker dies after electrocution near Trinity station

A contract laborer involved in the Namma Metro pillar lighting work died after he allegedly suffered an electric shock during excavation work near Trinity Metro station on Friday.
According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the incident took place near Pillar No. 153, outside the metro station at 3.52 pm. The deceased was employed by MR Electricals, the contractor entrusted with the lighting work for the pillars of the Namma Metro.
BMRCL said the worker came in contact with an electrical source while carrying out excavation work in an earthen pit. He suffered a severe electric shock and was immediately taken to the emergency department of a private hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, the report said.
Officials said the exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
