“Yeah, we didn’t get night training before this game, I don’t know why,” Erasmus said on Wednesday, hinting at that difference. “I think India have two night practices and I can see outside that Canada will have a night practice now, so make of that what you will, but we’re just going to rock and do our Namibian way, which is to fight.”This issue is particularly significant for Namibia, which rarely experiences day and night conditions due to limited infrastructure at home. Erasmus admitted that adjusting to the headlights is not a routine part of their training.

How important do you think night training is for teams participating in the T20 World Cup?

“We don’t have any lights in Namibia…in terms of infrastructure it’s probably a challenge for us, so yes, it’s not an occasional thing for people who don’t have experience,” he explained, adding that only players involved in overseas leagues such as the Nepal Premier League or the ILT20 are regularly exposed to such conditions.Namibia enter the match looking to bounce back from their opening loss to the Netherlands, while India arrive in front of their home crowd as overwhelming favourites. With the upcoming games against the USA and Pakistan scheduled as afternoon games, Erasmus acknowledged that adapting quickly to the night-time conditions will be a challenge – but insisted his side will take the fight to the table regardless of the odds.
