YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu apologize to the Backward Classes (BC) for betraying them in the name of reservations, terming it a fraud.

In a post on social media, he said that Mr. Naidu’s deceptive promise was exposed by the Supreme Court, that the Super Six promises were another scam and the cancellation of schemes that people received under the YSRCP government was another scam.

The coalition government’s manifesto with 143 promises was the biggest fraud of all, added Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court on Friday (October 9) dismissed the Andhra Pradesh government’s plea against the Supreme Court (HC) judgment on reservations for Backwards Classes (BC) in rural and urban local bodies (ULB) elections.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court struck down GO No. 105 and 1065, through which the government sought to provide 34% BC reservation in Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and 33.33% quota in ULBs, saying they crossed the 50% threshold.

Earlier, a division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court headed by Chief Justice Lisa Gill and comprising Justice Challa Gunaranjan on Thursday (October 8) set aside GO Nos. 105 and 1065 through which the government provided 34% reservation for Backward Classes (BC) in the quota of Panchayat Rajs 3 Urban Institutions and Local Government Institutions P3% P3% (ULBs) saying that they exceeded 50% limit set by the Supreme Court.

A couple of weeks ago, CM Naidu announced 34% reservation for BC in rural body polls and 33.33% reservation in urban local bodies and said that Backward Classes (BC) form the political and socio-economic backbone of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
