Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar on Thursday came to the rescue of a farmer struggling to purchase paddy fields and won praise from farmers of Bhatlapenumarru in Movva mandal, Krishna district.
The incident took place in Bhatlapenumarru, where a local farmer, Chalasani Chantibabu, who cultivated paddy on 14 acres, was trying to sell his freshly harvested crop. After moving the crop from seven acres to his home, he approached the local Rytha Seva Kendra, only to be told that gun bags were not available and that the deployment of the truck would be delayed indefinitely.
Unsure of what to do, Mr. Chantibabu shared his situation with a local acquaintance. The information quickly reached Minister Manohar’s team and early in the morning the matter was escalated to the minister via WhatsApp.
At 10.15am, Mr Chantibabu received a “surprise phone call” from the minister. Touched by the farmer’s plight, the minister assured immediate support and urged him not to worry. Within half an hour, the district administration began to act. Officials contacted the farmer and informed him that tendering arrangements were being made. The Movva Mandal Tahsildar soon reached the village, assessed the demand for gun bags and started collection of the harvested rice on the same day.
The speed and coordination of the response won the praise of the villagers. Mr. Chantibabu said the minister’s personal intervention restored his confidence in the government, according to a press release.
