A job fair dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities to persons with disabilities was organized here in Gokulam on 7th December. PADHA Trust and Devdan Foundation Educational Center have implemented the initiative in collaboration with Association of Persons with Disabilities (APD), Bengaluru.
The initiative focused on supporting candidates with hearing and speech impairments by connecting them with employers from various industries. Companies offered jobs at various skill levels, while organizers highlighted the growing need for inclusive workplaces. The event also served as a platform for job seekers to interact directly with recruiters, get career guidance and explore roles suited to their skills.
Dhanya Uthappa, Chairperson, Devdan Foundation Learning Centre, and Kotera Devaiah, Trustee, Devdan Foundation Learning Centre, said more than 100 candidates participated and participants interested in entrepreneurship also got information about government schemes and mentorship to help them start their own businesses. The broader goal is to expand employment opportunities and help individuals become economically self-sufficient.
APD Coordinator Santosh Chacko said the selected candidates will undergo an assessment camp followed by a 45-day free training. “We identify their capabilities, provide the required training and then match them with suitable job opportunities,” he said.
