On Friday, Myanmar hit a strong earthquake, causing widespread destruction in one of the poorest countries in the world. The initial number of victims has already exceeded 140 and the officials warned that the number is likely to increase in the coming days.

Here are the first ten updates:
1. India sent about 15 tons of auxiliary materials on a military transport aircraft on an earthquake affected by Myanmar. The C130J Air Force Air Force took off at Myanmar from the Hindon Aviation Station, PTI reported. Sending materials for relief include tents, sleeping bags, blankets, food ready for eating, water cleaners, solar lamps, sets of generators and basic medicines, PTI sources said.
2. An earthquake of 7.7, followed by 6.4 shocks, was hit on Friday by Myanmar and neighboring Thailand, which caused extensive destruction, including the collapse of buildings, bridge and dam. The number of victims in Myanmar from a strong earthquake increased to 694, with 1,670 people injured, the state media reported on Saturday and quoted the statement of the ruling army, Reuters reported.

3. As stated by AP, experts indicated that the earthquake that occurred along the saga disorder hit close to the Earth’s surface, resulting in a strong seismic force. Preliminary estimates from the US geological survey suggest that nearly 800,000 people in Myanmar could have been in the most intense tremor. As a result, the number of victims is expected to increase significantly, with initial projections indicating that it could exceed 1,000 and perhaps much higher.

5. US President Donald Trump has committed that the United States will help Myanmar after a devastating earthquake in response to a rare appeal to help the ruling Junta of Southeast Asia.
6. He assured the US to provide support and add, “We have already talked to the ground.”

7. Min Aung Hlaing warned that tolls are likely to increase due to extensive destruction throughout the country, AFP reported. The four years of the Civil War in Myanmar, induced by military power, also weakened the Emergency and Health Services of the Earth and left them poorly equipped to respond to such a disaster.
8. Myanmar’s chief of Junta invited “any country, any organization” to help with relief, and said “opened all ways for foreign aid”. The offers flooded, and the neighbor India said she was ready to help.
9. The European Union offered support and US President Donald Trump said Washington had already “talked” to Myanmar about assistance. “It’s really bad and we’ll help,” he told reporters.
